Coach Carter is the movie that was inspired from the real story that happened in the poor area of Richmond, CA. The main character in this movie was played by Samuel L.Jackson as Ken Carter who was the basketball coach of Richmond High School. Rob Brown, Rick Gonzalez, Ashanti and others characters are also the important characters that helped a lot in this interesting movie..
In 1999, Ken Carter, a successfull sporting goods store owner, accepts the job of basketball coach for his old high school in a poor area of Richmond, CA, where he was a champion athlete. As much dismayed by the poor attitudes of his players as well as their dismal play performance, Carter sets about to change both. He immediately imposes a strict rule typified in written contracts that include stipulations for respectful behavior, a dress code and good grades as requisites to being allowed to participate. The initial resistance from the boys is soon dispelled as the team under Carter's guidance becomes a undefeated competitor in the game. However, when the overconfident team's behavior begins to stray and Carter learns that too many players are doing poorly in class. He takes immediate action. To the outrage of the team, the school and the community, Carter cancels all the team activities and locks the court until the team shows acceptable academic improvement. In the ensuing debate, Carter fights to keep his methods, determined to show the boys that they need to rely on more than sports for their futures and eventually finds he has affected them more profoundly than he ever expected...
This story line of this movie about how a new coach set up a new strategies to trained his basket players to become a successful player in overall aspects; sports, academic performance and also their attitudes. Even his new strategies faced a lot of problems from the parents, the players itself and also the teachers, but he just ignored it and accepted it as a challenges for him. Finally, all the players realise something and they with fully heart followed all the rules that was stated by their Coach. At the end, everyone of them become a succesful player that perform very well in their academic performance.
There are many social issues related to the teenagers that the director try to show up in the movie. The first one is about the attitude towards others. Coach Carter try to build up the trained all the players to respect the others with the such word 'Yes Sir'. Drugs abuse also one of the social issue that happened among the teenagers. Peer pressure is one of the factors that cause this problem. In this movie, one of the player of the Richmond was involved in the drugs abuse and after his cousin dead, only then he realized that there is no point for him to get involve in this problem. Beside that, the diretor also try to focused on the the issue of sex before married. This social issue then related to the other issues such as abortion, money problem and many more.
From my opinion, Coach Carter's movie is the best movie that sholud be watch by everyone. So many moral values and interesting storyline that we can learned from this movie..enjoy yourself!!!
